Mantracker (Terry Grant) Interview 2007

Imagine being plunked down in the woods somewhere with someone you met just hours ago. The clock is ticking. You need to reach a pre-determined area to be safe. That area just happens to be 40 kilometres away. You've only got a small backpack with just the bare essentials... and a time limit. 36 hours. Reach the finish line in 36 hours or less. Sounds fairly simple, doesn't it? Oh - and you're being stalked.

Your tracker is experienced, though you've got a head start. Your map and compass will come in handy, but taking the easy route will surely lead to capture. Capture means 'Game Over', even if you are mere yards from the finish line. Leaving no tracks is your best bet but when you're sprinting through the bush trying to evade the Mantracker, that's no easy feat. He's on horseback and although he doesn't have a map or compass, his guide (who's knowledge of the area is flawless) knows every ditch and riverbed you could possibly hide in.

With a strong background in forensic tracking and search and rescue, the Mantracker (known as Terry Grant to anyone but his prey) can pick up on even the slightest hint of your presence. An overturned rock, for example, can tell him which direction you were going.

This is all fun and games, of course. Mantracker is a reality show which runs on the Outdoor Life Network. Terry Grant plays Mantracker, a role he got by a little luck and someone who is, no doubt, his favourite cousin now.

  6. You can simulate MANTRACKER on the video game RED DEAD REDEMPTION. We play this on Xbox Live all the time. There is numerous types of terrain too. Mountains, Great Plains, Forrests, Canyons, Deserts, and much more. Tracking someone requires you to master the online play though, but it aint that hard. You can set way points on the map so finish lines are marked. And there is wildlife too. wolves, grizzlies, cougers etc etc. Check out Red Dead Redemption on youtube to see the game.

I'm pretty good at tracking other players so I usually play the tracker. A destination is marked on the preys in game map, but the destination could be placed on the trackers map too if you want. You can play a number of ways.

    1 tracker - 1 prey
    1 tracker - 2 prey
    2 trackers - 2 prey
    etc etc

a total of 16 players can play divided and way you want, but we usually play 2 on 2 to keep it authentic. The horses in the game have a mind of their own too, they avoid going down dangerous edges, cliffs, steap hills, and deep water, but the prey can take these routes on foot with ease. So this is an authentic advantage for the prey, go where the horses cant. Horses can be forced to take dangerous routes, but keep in mind that your horse can drowned in deep water, and lose footing on dangerous terrain, and slip and die, meaning game over. Add me on xbox live if you want to try it out.

  10. they should make a video game where you can play all over canada as the prey and you have to make it to the finish line. you should be able to select the difficulty of the tracker easy medium hard. it should be for the xbox or ps3 for the best graphics. id buy it.
